They’re B-a-a-a-c-k!

Hello everyone. Thank you for your patience over the last few months since the board has necessarily begun to focus more on planning and organizational matters. That hard work paid off as the council received tax exempt status from the IRS and fulfilled all the USGBC requirements to become a full chapter. Signing the charter is imminent!

It is because of your requests that we are bringing back the popular free seminars starting with an April 9th event, titled, LEED 2009 - Changes are Afoot!

This content-packed, one-hour presentation will explain how you can become a "Green Associate" as well as what the new requirements are to become a LEED Accredited Professional or LEED Fellow. You’ll also learn about changes to the green building rating system, hear about new educational course offerings as well as the USGBC's strategic objectives.

I am pleased to welcome our speaker, Jim D’Aloisio, P.E. and LEED AP. Jim is on the USGBC Board of Directors and is a Principal with Klepper, Hahn and Hyatt, a 39-person structural engineering, landscape architecture, and building science firm located in East Syracuse, NY.  Jim’s professional passion is advancing sustainable structural concepts, facilitating design charrettes, and of course, being involved on LEED projects!

The seminar is open to the public with plenty of time for professional networking afterwards.  Simply follow the registration directions in the email using the Eventbrite tool.

For details, please visit our webpage at www.usgbcri.org where you can also find out about other initiatives the chapter is planning, including our next LEED workshop for existing buildings (April 24th). Alternately, you may contact us at usgbcri.org and tell us how you'd like to contribute or how we can help bring the message to others, but most important, get on board and ride the wave!

It’s time to Go Green Rhode Island!

Sincerely,

Connie McGreavy, Chair
